Southern Rail Strike

What rail services will operate?
- On routes shown in grey, there will be no service
- On routes shown in red and purple, you are advised that there will be a significantly reduced service and are advised to avoid travelling at peak times
- On routes shown in yellow, only buses will operate
- On routes shown in blue, buses will operate to provide a connection with alternative rail servies to London for essential journeys only. These services are expected to be very busy and will run only at certain times. Journey times to London will be much longer than normal.
Only the following rail services will run across the Southern network:
Thameslink, Southeastern, South West Trains, London Midland, London Overground services
Will operate to a normal timetable.
A service will operate between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport every 30 minutes between approximately 05.00 and 22.00
There will be a very limited peak-only service between Caterham and London Victoria (calling at Whyteleafe South, Whyteleafe, Kenley and Purley only). These services are expected to be very busy and you should only travel if your journey is essential. No train services will operate on any other route.
Rail replacement buses will operate as follows:
PDF Hastings - Ashford (calling at all stations)
PDF Lewes - Seaford (calling at all stations) - Please note, there are no onward connections from Lewes.
For essential travel, a limited bus service will operate to provide a connection to London from/to the following stations:
PDF Eastbourne: to and from Hastings (for Southeastern connections to and from London)
PDF Bexhill: to and from Hastings (for Southeastern connections to and from London)
PDF Uckfield and Crowborough: to and from Tunbridge Wells (for Southeastern connections to and from London)
PDF Oxted: to and from Sevenoaks (for Southeastern connections to and from London)
PDF East Grinstead: to and from Gatwick Airport (for Gatwick Express/Thameslink connections to and from London)
PDF Horsham: to and from Dorking (for South West Trains connections to and from London)
PDF Tattenham Corner: to and from Epsom (for South West Trains connections to and from London)
PDF Chichester: to and from Havant (for South West Trains connections to and from London)
Journey times will be much longer and capacity will be limited which means that queuing systems may in place. Unless otherwise noted, all buses will pick up/set down from the railway station in question.
National Rail journey planners will be updated from around 02:00 the day before to show only the services that operate. The full timetable (including trains that will not run) will show until this time. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of other journey planners or web ticketing sites.
On all routes you are advised to travel only if your journey is essential, to allow extra time and to travel outside peak times if possible.
